JAMSTEC Collaboration
This limited edition is a collaboration with JAMSTEC, the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology. Seiko has worked with JAMSTEC since the 1980s, including a 1983 verification experiment for a saturation diving watch using the manned research submersible Shinkai 2000. From 2025, Seiko also began supporting JAMSTEC’s Arctic research.
Arctic Exploration Dial
The dial is inspired by the image of an icebreaker opening a route through sea ice during polar exploration. Its three-dimensional stamped pattern evokes tracks carved into sea ice, while the blue gradient deepening toward the center and thick transparent coating create depth and clarity reminiscent of the Arctic Ocean.
Beauty and Functionality
The 1968 Heritage exterior design uses a glossy blue ceramic bezel insert. This enhances the dial’s visual beauty while adding high scratch resistance, making the watch both attractive and practical.
Newly Developed Comfortable Clasp
The clasp uses a newly developed one-push diver adjuster system. It offers approximately 16mm of adjustment in eight steps of about 2mm each. The extension can be retracted even while the clasp remains closed, helping maintain comfort both while diving and in daily wear.
Recommended For
This model is easy to recommend for Seiko Prospex collectors, Marinemaster fans, customers looking for a professional Japanese diver’s watch, fans of ocean and Arctic exploration stories, and international customers who appreciate limited-edition watches connected to Japanese scientific research.
